Meet Michael

Michael Hart (MBA, BEc) is the Founder and Managing Director of Charter Capital Finance. With over 30 years of experience in financial services, Michael has built Charter Capital Finance into a leading finance broking business, facilitating over $1 billion in loan funding across personal, commercial, and residential lending.

Michael’s career began in 1991 and spans both national and international roles, including consulting on organisational change in New Zealand. Upon returning to Adelaide in 2001, he joined Halpin Wealth as a Partner and now serves as Joint Managing Partner, overseeing a team of 15+ advisers offering bespoke financial advice to family businesses, agribusiness professionals, and high-net-worth individuals.

His unique ability to work across both sides of a client’s balance sheet — integrating debt management with strategic financial planning — allows him to deliver holistic solutions that optimise lending outcomes and support long-term wealth creation. Michael is particularly skilled in business succession planning, retirement strategies, and generational wealth transfer, having guided numerous family enterprises through complex transitions.

Outside of his professional roles, Michael and his wife Alisa are the founders of Hart of the Barossa, a certified organic vineyard home to the oldest organic vines in the region. Their brand exports globally and reflects their shared commitment to sustainability and legacy-building. Michael divides his time between Adelaide and the Barossa Valley, where he enjoys family life with their two sons and remains actively involved in both business and community.
